Peak Circle Walk

A flat, paved 3.5 km loop around Victoria Peak offering stunning harbour and skyline views through the jungle.

About this activity

The Harlech Road and Lugard Road loop — collectively called the Peak Circle Walk — is one of Hong Kong's most rewarding easy hikes. The 3.5 km route contours the upper slopes of Victoria Peak at roughly 400 m elevation, threading through dense subtropical forest with regular openings to the harbour below. The north-facing section offers the classic Hong Kong skyline framing.

Highlights

  • Flat, paved surface suitable for all fitness levels

  • Sequential viewpoints toward Central, Kowloon, and Lamma Island

  • Dense tropical forest with birdsong and cooler mountain air

  • Free access — no tram ticket required to walk the route

Practical tips

  • Combine with the tram descent for a one-way downhill experience.

  • The Lugard Road section (north face) has the best skyline views.

  • Morning mist often clears by 10:00 for clearer photography.

  • Bring water — no vendors on the trail itself.
